The Himalayan Challenge (HC) work placement in  Nepal & India runs for 3 months. Volunteers will be placed in primary schools in Pokhara (Nepal), Gangtok in Sikkim and Dharamsala (India). A four days Orientation course is organised for you on your arrival in respective towns. This includes teaching you the local language or Tibetan language. You'll be given briefings covering topics such as women in the local society, history, political situations, safety and security of the place you will visit. The schools you'll be placed are all English medium schools which means all teaching is carried out in English. You will therefore find it easier to communicate as compared to teaching in Government schools where lessons are taught in Nepali. The children and the staff everywhere will be very appreciative of your efforts and you are bound to make friends amongst the pupils and staff. These schools are spread around Pokhara, Gangtok and Dharamsala valley.
